I am a recovering fairy tale princess. There. I said it. I know I am not alone, but I didn't always know that. It's actually a big club, but as far as I know, no one has laid out a series of twelve steps to recovery, so I muddle along  as well as I can.

I am also a story keeper. Somewhere along the line people started sharing their stories with me, and not long after that, I started writing my own. I weave fictional stories, taking inspiration from places I've been, people I've met, events I've observed; pretty much anything is fair game. My novels let readers look inside the complex, messy, and unpredictable lives of regular people who are doing the best they can to live according to their beliefs. Call it historical fiction, or fictionalized memoir, or faux fiction, or whatever you like. My characters, like most humans, can be naïve, vulnerable and flawed, but they are more often strong, smart, goofy, serendipitous, and courageous, relying on inspiration, intuition, and compassion to work through the challenges life presents. It's about religion, to the extent that religion is supposed to inspire us to be our best selves.

When I'm not writing, I'm thinking about writing. I've also been known to spend time shooting photographs, working in other artistic media, making music, cooking, hanging out with my family, reading, watching old movies, and trying to keep the  reincarnated cat off the computer keyboard. Although I've done time in both the Jell-O corridor and the Bible belt, I now live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest with my beloved human, canine, and feline family.
